On Thursday, January 12th, the 4-3 Forest Heights Trojans were taking on the 7-0 Grand River Renegades at Grand River Collegiate.
In the first quarter, no team pulling ahead to start the game. Then, the Renegades started to build a lead, leading 16-7 after Anthony Kostin hit a 3 for Grand River.
Later in the first quarter, the Renegades were up 20-14 until Ben Willcock hit a 3, and then hit a 2 point shot the next possession. He cut the 5 point Renegade lead to a 1 point lead.
Late in the first quarter, Hayde Barnes hits a shot and draws a foul to get a 3 point play for the Trojans. With those points he tied the game with 2 seconds left in the quarter. It’s 22-22 after the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Grand River started to pull away until Ben Willcock hit a 3 pointer to end the half. Grand River has a 35-29 halftime lead.
In the beginning of the third quarter, Forest Heights started to cut the Renegades lead, making it a 2 point deficit after Aiden Greenen hit a 3 point shot.
Not long after that, Owen Moyer hits another 3 for Forest Heights to give the Trojans the 38-37 lead.
From then on, the Renegades would start building a lead back. They lead 54-46 after an Andrew DiGravio 3 pointer. But Forest Heights would hit a 3 on the next possession to make it 54-49 for Grand River after 3 quarters.
Grand River would take a 10 point lead after Luka Trickovic hit a 2 point shot. He would finish with 29 points.
Late 4th quarter, Aaron Bailey would hit another 3 for the Renegades to give the Renegades a 69-60 lead.
Grand River would continue to build on their lead and would win the game 78-62. Grand River remains undefeated on the season with a record of 8-0, and the Forest Heights Trojans fall to 4-4 on the season.
